About David Gastley

David Gastley grew up with his sights set on law school, thanks in part to his love of a good debate and his parents’ classic career advice for an argumentative kid. He studied political science at Georgia College & State University, intending to go pre-law. After graduating, though, David felt more inclined to work than return to school for another three years, so he took a job in tech sales. While he hit the ground running, he didn’t feel satisfied, and ultimately left for a sales position at a startup. When that job relocated overseas, David was left at a crossroads.

After a mentor was involved in a criminal case, David felt his friend’s defense could have been stronger. David decided to revisit his plan to become an attorney and signed up for the LSAT. After taking the test in mid-July, he applied to Emory University School of Law and started classes just weeks later.

During school, David spotted nearby Litner + Deganian and hit it off with Steve, a former wrestler like himself. David worked part time and spent his second summer with the firm. In his last semester, David moved to a criminal law firm, thinking it could be the best fit for him. While he enjoyed the chance to help out on some high-profile cases, handling such heavy matters day in and day out was a challenge. Litner + Deganian, with its relaxed office environment and client-centered practice, felt like the right choice. David rejoined the firm and recently passed his bar exam.

When David is not working, he likes to box or head to a lake house with his family. His dog, Jax, an English golden retriever, often joins him in the office.
